If you don't want to haul items to a donation center, consider posting your sidewalk items on Craigslist North Jersey under For Sale By Owner "Free Stuff" - this allows you to create a listing for others to come and take whatever is on the curb and give it a new life. You can add pictures of the items and a brief description but you do not need to be bothered by "shoppers" - it is simply first come first served. After a day or two, you can remove the listing. This has been very helpful for estate clean outs of items that have no sale value but are not yet dumpster worthy either. Many people will re-purpose the items happily.
